This is an authentic specimen of Zlichovaspis rugosa, a Moroccan trilobite from the Devonian period. It was collected from the Atchana region Morocco. This beautifully preserved specimen presents itself in a prone position on a layer of limestone bedrock in which it was found. And at 4" exhibits great detail and excellent eye-facets. Truly a spectacular specimen.
This fossil has been professionally prepared by fossil preparator in Morocco. Most trilobites will exhibit some form of repair or restoration. Trilobites are found by breaking rocks and the the trilobite is generally broken as well. The pieces are then glued back to together and the trilobite is excavated from the rock using a combination of hand tools, airscribes and air abrasives.
